This statistic shows the rate of registrations of newly diagnosed cases of oesophagus cancer per 100,000 population in England from 1995 to 2020, by gender. Cancer of the oesophagus is a type of cancer that affects the oesophagus, it occurs when cells within the oesophagus begin to grow abnormally. In 2020, approximately 20 males and 7.3 females per 100,000 population were registered as newly diagnosed with cancer. The rate of newly diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus slightly decreased for males and females both in comparison to 2019.
