Regional rate of unlicensed vehicles in traffic in Great Britain (UK) 2008-2017
This statistic compares the share of unlicensed vehicles in traffic in different regions across Great Britain between 2008 and 2017. The share estimates were calculated from the Department for Transport Roadside Survey. The percentage of unlicensed cars in traffic rose for all regions in 2010, especially in the North East, which is most likely a result of the economic recession. The share of unlicensed vehicles mostly fell after that although estimates remained steadily at 0.8 percent for the East of England, only increasing to 1.3 percent in the year 2015. There was an overall increase in the rate of unlicensed vehicles in traffic in 2017.
