Among six Latin American countries surveyed in 2020, Guatemala had the highest new business ownership rate, at over 16 percent. New business ownership rate refers to the percentage of population aged 18 to 64 who are currently an owner or manager of a new business. This includes owning and managing a running business that has paid salaries, wages, or any other payments to the owners for more than three months, but not more than 42 months.
