This 2013 survey shows how the different generations in the United Kingdom perceive the progress of science. While about 50 percent of the generation X and Y and 55 percent of the baby boomers agreed that the benefits of science were greater than any harmful effects, the conviction concerning this notion was stronger among the respondents of the pre-war generation of which nearly 70 percent agreed that science's benefits outweigh any possible negative effects.
