UK insurance investment: stocks and shares 2007-2014 This statistic displays the value of United Kingdom (UK) stocks and shares, both "ordinary" and "preferred" stocks, held by general and long-term insurance companies as investment holdings from 2007 to 2014. Investment in ordinary stocks was much higher in years 2007 to 2009 than later on, but it remained more substantial than investment in preferred stock. In 2013, 208 billion British pounds was invested in ordinary stock, and 187 billion in other/preferred stock.
