Time-shifted TV viewing in the U.S. 2014, by age The graph shows data on time-shifted TV viewing in the United States as of October 2014, by age. The source found that 28 percent of respondents aged 18 to 34 who typically watched original TV series online were most likely to watch TV series within three days after the original airing date. Some of the leading sources for watching time-shifted TV shows included recorded shows on a DVR, an on-demand service, or Netflix. The main reason for time-shifting TV shows was so that consumers could watch the show at a time that was convenient for them, although many consumers also used this method so that they could skip the ads or pause and rewind the show.
