In 2020, Gazprom sold 18.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Belarus, which was the highest volume compared to other FSU countries. Kazakhstan followed, with 3.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas purchased from Gazprom. Gazprom is one of the largest natural gas extractors in the world. The company was created in 1989 after the Soviet Ministry of Gas Industry became a corporation. Its headquarters are located in Moscow.
