Likelihood of donating family member's organs based on wishes in adults 1993-2012
This survey displays the percentage of U.S. adults that were likely to donate family member's organs based on known or unknown wishes in 1993, 2005, and 2012. In 2005, 70.2 percent of adults that did not know their family member's wishes were still somewhat likely or very likely to donate their organs. Organ donation can be given through both a deceased and living donor if blood and oxygen are flowing through the organs until the time of recovery to ensure viability. There are over 120,000 people in the country waiting for an organ transplant.
