Per capita consumption of butter in Europe 2017, by country

This statistic presents the per capita consumption of butter within selected European countries in 2016. Of the given countries, France had the highest consumption volume that year at around eight kilograms per capita, followed by Germany at six kilograms. Overall, butter consumption is on the rise in Europe, with forecasts predicting year on year increases in levels of consumption. In terms of production, both France and Germany are also the leading producers when based on volume, with forecasts predicting an upward trend. Concurrently, wholesale prices of butter are experiencing an increase in average price per tonne. While the volume of imports into the European Union is expected to decrease, however, exports to non-European Union countries are forecasted to rise.
