Financial Ombudsman: financial services complaint cases opened in the UK 2004-2022

The total volume of new enquiries to the Financial Ombudsman that were then opened as new complaint cases regarding the financial businesses services in the United Kingdom (UK) generally increased from 2004/2005 to 2021/2022, albeit with fluctuations. The volume of new complaints peaked in the financial year 2013/2014, when 512,167 new complaint cases were opened. A total of 164,560 new cases was reached as of the end of March 2022 - a significant decrease compared to the previous year and the lowest number since 2009/2010.
