The number of customer complaints to the Financial Ombudsman regarding consumer credit lines in the United Kingdom (UK) generally increased between the financial years of 2009/2010 and 2020/2021, with especially steep inclines observed in the years 2018/2019 and 2020/2021. The most significant decline in number of complaints occurred in 2019/2020, by around 22.6 thousand compared to the previous year. The smallest number of complaints was found in 2009/2010, when around 6.3 thousand complaints were recorded. In 2020/2021, the number of complaints reached just under 90,000.
