Number of visitors to National Museums Liverpool, England 2011-2021

The number of visitors to National Museums Liverpool's institutions in England decreased by nearly 93 percent in 2020/2021 over the previous fiscal year due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. From March 2020 onwards, museums, galleries, and cultural institutions in the country had to close for long periods, as the government introduced emergency measures to limit the spread of the virus. As a result of the closures, National Museums Liverpool recorded an attendance of 221 thousand between April 2020 and March 2020, while the number of visitors reached over three million in 2019/2020. National Museums Liverpool is a group of free museums and galleries operating throughout the city of Liverpool, including organizations such as the Museum of Liverpool, the Walker Art Gallery, and the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
