In comparison with the other OECD member countries in 2018, Sweden had the fifth highest expenditure on health as a share of the county’s gross domestic product. The United States had the highest share, reaching 16.9 percent of their gross domestic product, followed by Switzerland, France and Germany.

The per capita expenditure on health in Sweden increased annually during the period from 2013 to 2018. In 2018, the amount was estimated to be around 52.2 thousand Swedish kronor per capita.
