In 2019, the annual volume of passenger transport by all modes of road transportation in Germany remained nearly unchanged from the previous two years at around 981.2 billion passenger-kilometers. In 2020 however, road passenger transport fell by about 13 percent, as travel was affected by the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
