By 2012, production had fallen to approximately 36 million hectoliters, but increased and reached its highest peak in the following wine year 2013/2014, reaching a wine production volume of approximately 54 million hectoliters. Wine production in Spain decreased throughout 2014 and 2016, and it is expected to amount to 43 million hectoliters in 2015/2016.
