German companies dominated the chemicals sector, and in terms of total assets took the top three spots, and eight further German companies were in the top 25. The remainder of the companies that made the list were based in either France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Russia, or the United Kingdom (UK). Basf had the highest total assets in the last year, amounting to 83.6 billion U.S dollars.
