Overseas revenue of video games developed in China 2012-H1 2023
Over the past decade, Chinese self-developed video games had witnessed steady growth in international markets. Until 2022, the overseas sales revenue recorded a 3.7 percent drop to 17.4 billion U.S. dollars. In the first half of 2023, the figure declined by 8.7 percent to 8.2 billion U.S. dollars. Apart from the mature gaming markets, such as United States Japan, South Korea, and Europe, Chinese video game developers and publishers have been trying to tap into the new gaming markets in Middle East, India, Russia, and Brazil.
