Estimated eating disorder hospitalizations in the United States 1999-2009
This statistic displays the estimated number of hospitalizations due to eating disorders in the United States between 1999 and 2009, by diagnosis. On average in 2007-2008, there were some 7,290 hospitalizations due to eating disorders as a primary diagnosis. These conditions contribute to the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric disorder, most notably among anorexia nervosa patients.
