Belgium: number of cars per 1,000 inhabitants 1990-2017

Belgium's motorization rate reached 509 passenger cars per every thousand inhabitant in 2017. In the period of consideration, figures steadily increased, with 2012 being the only year when there were no additions compared to the year prior. This stagnation is due to a notable slump in new car registrations, which had fallen by 15 percent between 2011 and 2012. In 2017, approximately 553,700 new passenger cars were registered.
