Inpatient death rate for high-volume conditions by age in the U.S. 2012
This statistic displays the inpatient mortality rate per 1,000 hospital admissions in the United States in 2002 and 2012, for four high-volume conditions and by age group. In 2002, the inpatient mortality rate due to stroke among those between 18 and 64 years of age reached 94.7 deaths per 1,000 hospitalizations. Inpatient mortality has decreased among high-volume conditions and can reflect improved health care quality.
