Saving for retirement according to German adults in 2018 This statistic illustrates the approaches to retirement saving in Germany as of 2018. It can be seen that a total of 42 percent of the respondents claimed that they were always making sure to be generating retirement income at that time. A further 25 percent said that they were saving for their retirement, but not on regular basis. The share of people not saving for retirement, both those that have saved in the past and those that intend to start saving for retirement, stood at a total of 23 percent (12 percent and 11 percent) of respondents as of 2018, meaning that only ten percent of people stated that they have not saved for retirement and do not intend to start.
