In 2020, several meetings and events in Germany were canceled, rescheduled, or took place online, due to the emergency restrictions put in place to face the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result, the number of international participants at meetings and events reached just 1.3 million in 2020, dropping from roughly 43 million in 2019.
