In 2021, the leading factor driving cross-border holiday shopping among Canadians were the better deals and prices that could be found abroad. That year, over 80 percent of surveyed cross-border shoppers said that is why they buy from other countries, such as the United States. Just under 70 percent of consumers in Canada did cross-border shopping, because products and brands they were looking for were unavailable locally.
