Market share of smartphone operating systems in Germany 2011-2015 This statistic shows data on the market share of smartphone operating systems in Germany from December 2011 to February 2015. In February 2015, 70 percent of German smartphone owners had an Android phone, making it the highest market share among smartphone operating systems in the country. This mobile operating system was designed and developed by Google and also extends to tablets. Android market shares climbed steadily during this evaluation period. In February 2015, iOS was in second place, with its market share far behind Android at 20 percent. From May to July 2016, the sales market share of Android phones in Germany amounted to almost 80 percent, compared to roughly 15 percent for iOS. Android has also been expanded The number of smartphone users in Germany has only been growing in recent years. In February 2015, there were 45.6 million smartphone users in Germany. In April 2016, this number had increased to 49 million users.
