More than 70 percent of smart meter users in Great Britain said the device helped them get a better idea of what they were spending on energy, according to a survey conducted in 2021. Smart meters are meant to ease reporting to utilities, while also giving customers greater insights into the energy intensity of their lifestyle. In fact, 58 percent of survey respondents reported they thought twice about using high energy appliances ever since having a smart meter installed.
