Between 2013 and 2019, passenger car production in Africa was mainly rising, peaking at around 796,000 passenger cars produced in 2019. In 2020, however, car production fell due to several factors including the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2020 to 2023, extensive growth was seen in passenger car production in Africa, with numbers rising from 562 thousand in 2020 to 811 thousand in 2023, growth of about 44.3 percent.
