UK: crude steel production by method 2009-2018

This statistic shows the share of total crude steel produced in oxygen-blown converters and electric furnaces in the United Kingdom (UK) between 2009 and 2018. In 2018, 77.8 percent of all production was crude steel produced in oxygen-blown converters, a decrease of 6.1 percent compared to the peak in 2014. However, crude steel produced in electric furnaces recorded its peak in 2011, at 26.7 percent. By 2018, electric furnace crude steel production amounted to 22.2 percent of the total production, a decrease of 4.5 percent in comparison with the peak year.
