Wood pellet exports by major country worldwide 2021
The United States was the world's greatest wood pellet exporter country in 2021, with an export volume of over 7.5 million metric tons. Canada followed, with an export volume of just over 3.1 million metric tons. By comparison, Belgium ranked last among the ten largest exporters, with wood pellet exports amounting to nearly 586 thousand metric tons. Raw materials used for wood pellets include sawdust shavings as well as residue from chips, whole logs, and wood products.
