Over the last few years there have been many listings of value of brands. Various brand value research studies have taken place in consumer markets, just like the brand value study among Vietnamese brands held by Brand Finance in 2017. In that year, Vinamilk was by far the most valuable brand in Vietnam with a brand value of 1.1 billion U.S. dollars. The company dominates Vietnam’s dairy industry and is one of the country’s largest companies. Other valuable brands in Vietnam were Viettel Telecom, Vinhomes and Mobifone.

Some marketing researchers have concluded that brands are one of the most valuable assets a company has. With reference to Brand Finance, the term “brand value” is considered to be the net present value of the estimated future cash flows attributable to the brand.

Strong brands enhance business performance primarily through their influence on customer choices. During a survey among Vietnamese consumers in 2015, it was found out that nearly 30 percent of the respondents researched two different brands before making their purchase decision. In the same year, around 32 percent of consumers in Vietnam stated that they had discovered relevant brands online via smartphone.
