Forecasted retail sales of coffee in Canada 2017/2021

Retail sales of coffee were forecast to reach around 3.8 billion Canadian dollars by 2021 in Canada. This would be an increase of 1.2 billion dollars since 2017, when retail sales amounted to 2.6 billion dollars.

Canadians’ love of coffee

Consumers’ growing love for the hot caffeinated beverage no doubt supports such growth in retail sales. The number of past-day coffee consumers demonstrate this, as figures have been on the rise in recent years – in 2018, 72 percent of surveyed Canadians stated that they had drank coffee in the past 24 hours, an increase of 10 percent since 2009. A recorded increase in consumption volume supports these survey findings: in the 2018/19 marketing year, around 4.7 million 60-kilogram bags of coffee were consumed throughout Canada.

Favorite brands

According to a recent survey, Tim Hortons was the top choice for over 30 percent Canadians who make coffee at home . Folgers and Starbucks ranked in second and third places, with a 19.4 and 16 percent share of the vote respectively.
