Canadian government expenses 2013-2022, by sector and quarter
Between 2013 and 2022, the quarterly expenses of the Canadian government increased overall. The sector that registered the highest expenses throughout the period considered was the provincial and territorial government, with the notable exception of the second and third quarter of 2020. In these two quarters, in fact, federal government expenses boomed. In the fourth quarter of 2020, this sector accounted for over 124.7 billion Canadian dollars in spending. The provincial and territorial government's expenses, on the other hand, amounted to almost 138.3 billion Canadian dollars.
