There is no surprise that the market value for pets is increasing, as there are a large amount of pet animals all over Europe. In 2017 it was estimated that there were over 290 million pets in Europe, with the majority of these being cats. In Germany alone there was a reported 13.7 million cats and 9.2 million dogs. The United Kingdom is another country within Europe that has a large pet population, with figures expected to reach 51 million in 2018. Nearly one quarter of the total of all European countries.
The pet food and accessories market is also reflective upon this, with the cat food market share estimated to be 50.3 percent, nearly 14 percent bigger than that of dog food.
