UK: transport CO₂ emissions projections 2040

Transportation emissions in the United Kingdom are projected to decrease to 70 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂) by 2040. This would be a reduction of more than 35 percent in comparison to 2022 levels. In a bid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, the UK government announced that no new petrol and diesel cars will be sold from 2030, as well as a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel heavy good vehicles from 2040.
