In 2020, the number of employees in the wholesale and retail trade industry incl. repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in Germany remained nearly unchanged at around 5,985,777 employees. With a decline of 49,154 employees (-0.81 percent), there is no significant change to 2019.
According to Eurostat employed persons are all persons aged 15 and over who performed work, even for just one hour per week, for pay, profit or family gain during the reference week or were not at work but had a job or business from which they were temporarily absent because of, for instance, illness, holidays, industrial dispute, and education or training.
