*A short distance journey is a journey of 50 miles or less. Excludes Underground services, light rail/tram and specialist trains such as steam railways, but includes London Overground.
** Of total 1,034 respondents, split into walking distance to nearest railway station:
5 minutes or less with 70 respondents;
6-10 minutes with 136;
11-20 minutes with 216;
21-30 minutes with 158;
and more than 30 minutes with 423 respondents.
