WEEE: large household appliances e-waste collected in the UK 2016-2020

The quarterly volume of large household appliances collected as part of the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) directive has varied. Volumes peaked in the first quarter of 2020, with 58,316 metric tons collected. However, due to outbreak of COVID-19 the volume of e-waste collected in the second quarter of 2020 dropped by more than half. Collections recovered in the following quarter, and amounted to 50,502 metric by the end of the year. The United Kingdom is one of the biggest producers of e-waste worldwide.
