Number of households with two children in Sweden 2011-2019

The number of households in Sweden grew over the years and amounted to roughly 4.7 million in 2019. Among these, almost 625 thousand were households with two children, a number that has been growing annually since 2011 too.

The most common type of household

However, most common types of households in Sweden in 2019 were households without children. The most common type of household was a single-person household without children, followed by cohabiting or married couples without children, amounting to around 1.9 and 1.1 million, respectively.  

Households with children

Households with two children was slightly less common than households with one child. Both household types were considerably more common than households with three children or more. The one-child households amounted to around 632 thousand in 2019, while the households of three or more children amounted to around 271 thousand in the same year.
