Number of deaths in Sweden 2012-2022, by gender
From 2011 to 2019, there were more women than men dying in Sweden each year. However, since 2020, more men than women died in the Scandinavian country. The number of deaths peaked for both genders in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but decreased again in 2021, before increasing slightly in 2022, reaching 47,500 for men and 47,200 for women.
