The employed population in Belgium in 2022 varied greatly by region and gender. In 2022, most of the employed population in Belgium was located in the Flemish region, followed by the region of Wallonia. On the other hand, the employed population was higher in the Belgian male population than the female population. For instance, 269,000 employed men worked in the Brussels-Capital Region for 232,000 women in 2021.

Statistics Belgium defines an employed person as a person aged 15 years or older who was paid for at least one hour of work during the reference week, or a person of 15 years or older who had a job but was temporarily absent.
