Investments of institutional investors in short-term securities Netherlands 2006-2016

Institutional investors are defined by the source as "units that invest capital that is acquired as a result of their activities. These activities are mainly the insurance of pensions and offering private investors opportunities to invest in selected risk profiles. The population of institutional investors contains pension funds, insurance corporations and non-MMF investment funds. The money market funds are excluded from the investment funds."

Short-term securities are defined by the source as "all securities with a maximum term of one year, which in principle are transferable against a price that has been fixed in advance. Usually, the obliged interest payments of the debtor have been discounted in the value. 'Transferable' means that assets can be converted into cash from, or on a date that has been appointed at the moment the bond was issued. This transaction covers treasury paper issued by both the Dutch government and foreign governments, saving certificates to bearer and transferable certificates of deposits, issued by banks."

In 2014, Statistics the Netherlands has conducted a major revision on their macro-economic data. The national accounts have been compiled in accordance with the guidelines and concepts of the new European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010). In addition, new statistical sources and estimation methods have been used during the revision. This table shows the figures from 2008 after revision, the figures up to 2008 have not changed.
