In July 2019, the FIFA Women's World Cup reached the highest audiences of all TV shows in the Netherlands. The first four entries in this consisted of two matches, the award ceremony and a talk show on the football competition. The Dutch squad made it to the final of the tournament where they lost to defending champions USA. The first non-football related entry in this ranking can be found on fifth place: the news show Journaal 20 uur (in English: the Eight O'Clock News) of the public television station NPO had a viewership of roughly 2.6 million on July 7, 2019. Whether this date is related to the final of the Women's World Cup, the source does not mention.
