This statistic shows the annual consumption of natural gas for energy use in the United Kingdom (UK) from 1970 to 2018, in million metric tons of oil equivalent. It shows that the consumption of natural gas for energy use increased significantly from 1970 to 2000, going from 11.3 million metric tons of oil equivalent to 95.9 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In the most recent years however, the consumption decreased rapidly to 66.1 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2014. There has been a slight recovery in the following years.
