Expenditure on health in Germany amounted to a 11.2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2018. This share has been gradually increasing since 2000. In comparison to other European countries, this ranked Germany third in terms of health expenditure. Top of the list was Switzerland, which spent 12.2 percent of its’ GDP on healthcare in this year and France which spent 11.3 percent.
