A dangerous offender is someone who has been convicted of multiple serious violent or sexual crimes and is deemed by the court to be likely to reoffend. An offender designated as a dangerous offender may be sentenced to a regular sentence and a prolonged period of community supervision or may be given an indeterminate sentence with no chance of parole for seven years.
