In a developing country such as the Philippines, where household consumption expenditure is mostly concentrated on food and beverage spending, Filipinos still allocate amount for communication spending. Devices that can be used for communication like computers, tablets, and especially mobile phone are rising in sales. Consumer behavior pertaining to the sales of mobile cellular phones indicates that a majority of people prefer using mobile phones than any other device for communication. As of October 2019, Samsung was the leading mobile device, with around 30 percent of market share among all the mobile vendors in the market.
Activities of smartphone users
Across the country, the share of the population using mobile phones was around 65.3 % and forecasted to grow to about 70 percent in 2020. Among the population in the Philippines that uses mobile phones, some are smartphone users. Significantly, the standard usage of smartphones amongst consumers of this device is social networking, watching videos, read magazines, listen to music and access the world wide web.
