In 2021, there were nearly 151,900 road accidents involving injuries in Italy, including fatal accidents. Between 2001 and 2021, the number of road accidents with injuries decreased from 263,100 to 151,900 accidents. However, this volume increased between 2020 and 2021, as the end of COVID-19-related national lockdowns and restrictions led to more drivers on Italian roads.
