Consumer spending on clothing in Sweden 2008-2017 Over the ten-year period from 2008 to 2017, the spending of Swedish households on clothing increased steadily with an overall increase of roughly 20 million Swedish kronor. As of 2008, the household expenditure amounted to more than 60 million Swedish kronor. By the end of this period, the household consumption spending on clothing in Sweden reached nearly 81 million Swedish kronor. By comparison: during the same time period, the spending on clothing of Danish households stayed at a similar level, peaking at a consumption expenditure of around 33 million Danish kroner in 2017.
 International trade 

    The value of articles of apparel and clothing accessories imported into Sweden increased in the past years, peaking at around 44.7 million Swedish kronor in 2018. In this year, the export value of apparel from Sweden peaked as well but was approximately 26 million Swedish kronor lower, amounting to 18.7 million Swedish kronor.

Swedish fashion companies

   Sweden is worldwide known for design and fashion and there are many companies operating in the fashion industry in the country. Among these companies, the multinational fashion retailer H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB made the highest revenue. As of November 2018, it amounted to just over 200 billion Swedish kronor.
