Nivea, one of Germany’s most impressive success stories in the beauty sector, was the brand responsible for the most popular body milks and lotions among consumers. It was followed by Unilever-owned Dove and Nivea’s own line, Nivea Body.

Drugstore shopping

Most consumers bought their cosmetics and body care products in drugstores, which is not surprising considering the number of stores across the country and affordable prices of most drugstore brands, including Nivea. Among body care products, skin care in general brought in the highest revenues.

French imports

Body care revenues have been growing in recent years, amounting to almost 13.6 billion euros in 2017. As well as manufacturing body care products nationally, Germany imports them too. The leading import country in this case is France, followed by Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
