Most popular e-commerce apps in the U.S. 2019, by audience
Amazon heads the ranking of the most popular shopping apps in the United States with 150.6 million mobile users accessing the Amazon app in September 2019. Second-ranking Walmart had a monthly mobile app audience of 86.05 million users.
Mobile shopping in the United States Shopping via mobile devices has become increasingly common among the online population in the United States. In 2020, U.S. mobile retail revenues are expected to amount to 339.03 billion U.S. dollars, up from 207.15 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. According to a February 2019 survey, 51 percent of mobile devices owners stated that they had used a mobile retail app to buy a product or service in the past month. Despite the increase in popularity, purchases via smartphone and tablet devices still trailed behind online shopping orders through PCs in terms of order value. In the fourth quarter of 2019, online orders placed via a smartphone had an average value of 79.43 U.S. dollars. In September 2018, more than 63 million users accessed Amazon Sites exclusively through their mobile devices, making the platform the most popular among mobile-only online visitors. It comes as little surprise that Amazon also ranks first overall among the most-visited mobile retail properties in the United States.
