Total number of new HIV diagnoses in Italy 2019, by age group and gender

In 2019, 2,526 new HIV cases were diagnosed in Italy. This statistic breaks down this figure according to the patients' age and gender. Around four out of five new HIV cases were males. In fact, there were 2,021 new male cases and only 505 new female cases. For both genders, the age at the moment of the diagnoses was more often between 30 and 39 years of age. In fact, 549 males and 142 females in their 30s were newly diagnosed with HIV.
